Teaching
We are actively involved in developing new curricular materials for a two-semester laboratory in Introductory Physics for the Life Sciences (IPLS), which aims to apply basic physical principles to problems relevant to biology or medicine, while keeping the concepts accessible to undergraduates with a diversity of backgrounds. In an effort to encourage other programs to consider similar reform efforts and to lower barriers to doing so, we will make all course materials available here for free, including lab manuals, lecture notes, supplies & equipment lists, raw data files, and so forth.
Lab 1: Estimation and the size of molecules
This lab explores the discrete nature of matter and uses image analysis to estimate the size of a soap molecule.
